The graph in figure 53 includes the valid assumption that the sooner a defect is detected or prevented, the more savings can result. Eppler and Helfert (2004, 320) state that “unfortunately, considering the limited research in data quality costs, currently it is (still) unfeasible to quantify the effects of data quality prevention measures on repair and detection costs.”
